Complete TWO teacher recommendation forms- these will be mailed to you, once your completed audition application is received.

Once your audition application is received, you will receive an audition date and time along your two teacher recommendation forms.

Applicants should prepare two memorized, contrasting monologues no more than 90 seconds each (total time 3 minutes). Please select from a published play, NOT a poem or short story. Please DO NOT choose anything by Shakespeare. Contrast in the monologues can be demonstrated through the type of character or the material chosen such as serious/comedic, contemporary/classic, urban/rural, etc.

Applicants should find characters close to their own age and try to become familiar with the whole play from which the selection is taken. Do not use foreign dialects. Do not use props or wear costumes. For help locating material, browse our website or email the department chair at This email address is being protected from spambots. Adjudicators may interview applicants.  Applicants who pass the first round of auditions MAY be invited to attend a round of callback auditions where they will participate in improvisations and theatre games.  Students who are accepted into the Theatre & Film Department will be given an opportunity to apply for the Filmmaking track.  (You must be accepted into the Theatre & Film Department first.  Both Acting students and Design Tech students may apply for filmmaking).

To Apply for the Filmmaking Track

Each applicant should submit a short, introductory video essay (film) that is two minutes or shorter.  Your video should highlight YOU!  Help us get to know your personality and your interests—we know you want to be a filmmaker, but what else fascinates you?  Make your video about THAT!  We want to see you tell a story—we are not as interested in your technical skills—you will develop those here at GSA!  You may shoot with a camera, a phone or a tablet.  You do not have to edit the video—it can be one long shot.   AND YOU CANNOT BE IN THE VID YOURSELF!  Use your imagination and be creative!  Please bring your video in a Quicktime or mp4 format on a remote USB drive.  If you have a website or YouTube Channel, we can connect to that instead.  Have fun!
